Marlon Richardson, otherwise known as UnLearn The World is a chart topping Hip Hop artist and award winning Hip Hop Educator. As a born and bred product of the late 90’s New York City underground Hip-Hop scene, UnLearn showcases his substantive, yet accessible brand of lyricism, while he chronicles the emotions, triumphs, and tragedies that make up his Urban American experience.
Early on as a performer, UnLearn received notoriety as a supporting act for the Lyricist Lounge Club Series Tour as an opener for acts like Dead Prez, Killer Mike, and Big Daddy Kane. In addition to working with artists and producers including; Fat Joe, Jean Grae and Jake One, UnLearn has also shared the stages and toured with some of Hip Hop’s most iconic figures such as Talib Kweli, Rakim and KRS-One.
UnLearn’s most recent album “The God That Sins” was celebrated by critic and Hip Hop heads alike with songs like “Uncanny Behavior” featuring Ghostface Killah and “God’s Favorite” featuring Royce Da 5’9″ and a posthumous verse from Sean Price. Both songs debuted on the iTunes top 50 in both the US and the UK. Further, in 2024, UnLearn made his UK debut on tour with the legendary Gza from Wu Tang Clan and was just recently on a UK tour with The Infamous Mobb Deep.
As an Educator, UnLearn teaches the history of Hip Hop, Rap songwriting and develops curriculum for other elements of Hip Hop as the Executive Director of the Oakland based Non Profit Hip Hop For Change, Inc. In 2022, he received the Follow Your Bliss Award from the San Francisco 49ers Foundation. He has consulted on culturally responsive pedagogy for companies like Meta and lectures extensively on Hip Hop culture as a vehicle to teach critical thinking, social justice, personal growth and wellness at public schools and universities from UC Berkeley to Harvard.
