Marlon Richardson AKA UnLearn the World (MC, DJ, beatmaker)
Marlon Richardson, otherwise known as UnLearn The World is a chart topping Hip Hop artist and award winning Hip Hop Educator. As a born and bred product of the late 90’s New York City underground Hip-Hop scene, UnLearn showcases his substantive, yet accessible brand of lyricism, while he chronicles the emotions, triumphs, and tragedies that make up his Urban American experience.

Arturo O’Farrill (piano)
Arturo O’Farrill, a celebrated pianist, composer, and educator, was born in Mexico and raised in the vibrant music scene of New York City. He launched his professional career with the legendary Carla Bley Band and soon gained acclaim performing alongside jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis, and Harry Belafonte.

Omar Secada (piano)

Keisel Jiménez (percussion)

Dániel Ferenc Szabó (production, percussions)
Dániel Ferenc Szabó is a Budapest-based drummer, educator, and producer active in the underground jazz and hip-hop scenes. With over 15 years in music and nearly 10 in teaching, he performs, records, mixes, and co-runs Morotva Records. He also teaches jazz drums at the University of Pécs.

Rastko Uzunović: Saxophone and clarinet
Rastko Uzunović is a teacher and multi-instrumentalist from Belgrade Serbia. He studied at the Belgrade Academy of Music where he got his bachelors in classical, clarinet performance and masters in chamber music. As a young student he won over 40 prizes as a soloist and member of ensemble in international competitons.

Andrea György (violin and voice)
Andrea began her classical music studies as a primary school student on the violin, and after learning the basics, she soon started going her own way as a self-taught musician. She founded her first orchestras as a fine arts student and then turned to music for good.

Subhira Rodrigo Cepeda (Producer, composer)
He studied COMPOSITION AND ARRANGEMENTS at the Modern School of Music, graduating with maximum distinction in 1995. On 2011 receives the National Music Award “President of the Republic” for his work developing Chilean music productions. On 2015 ends the postgraduate specialization on Composition and on 2017 Completes the Master Of the Arts-Composition both at the University of Chile.

Tamás Dömötör (beatbox and loop artist)
Thanks to his musical ancestry, he was born into the world of sound. He began his studies at the Kodály Zoltán School in Kecskemét, where he played the violin, piano and drums. His versatility was revealed at an early age, as he started self-taught beatboxing at the age of 12, and after six years of practice he became the best in the country.

Jan Kus (saxophone)
Born in Slovenia and raised between Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jan Kus was drawn to wind instruments from an early age. After starting on clarinet, he switched to saxophone at 12, inspired by jazz. He studied at the National Conservatory for Music in Ljubljana, the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and later earned his Master’s degree at Queens College (CUNY) in New York under the mentorship of Antonio Hart.

Costs and conditions
We are going to choose 30 to 35 musicians from Europe who will get a chance to enjoy a unique experience of masterclasses and band rehearsals, workshops and concerts, jam and play together with American musicians and enjoy the wonderful lake Balaton in the summertime from July 13th to 20th, 2025 at Babel Camp in Balatonboglár, Hungary. The costs of the residency – see below – include accomodation and 3 meals / day for 7 days,
individual lessons, ensemble rehearsals, workshop programs, and the necessary backline and instruments to be specified in advance.
Application period closes on June 30.
Selection process and timing:
The selection is based on certain criteria (gender balance, geographical and cultural diversity, instrumental balance) and is exclusively up to the discretion of the organisers and teachers.
Selection is updated every 15 days, so the earlier you apply, the better chances you have to be selected..
Due to the necessity of instrumental balance, if musicians playing the same instruments reach 5 confirmed applicants, the application for musicians with that instrument might be closed.
If you play more than one instruments, please list all of them in the registration form. (e.g. ”drums, percussion, piano”)
After the end of each application period (May 31, June 15 and June 30) you will receive an email from the organisers confirming or declining your application. If you are selected, you will have to transfer the participation fee within 5 working days in order to secure your spot.
Cancellation policy:
If you cancel your participation before 15th of June, you will receive a 50% refund.
If you cancel after that date, no refund will be given.
In the unlikely event that a participant decides to leave the camp during its course, no refund will be given.
In case Babelongó Residency 2025 is cancelled or postponed due to a vis major event (Governmental lockdown, war, pandemia, natural disaster, global economic crises) your paid participation fee will be 100% reimbursed.
Travel costs, however, can not be reimbursed by the organisers.
We strongly advise you to book a flexible ticket for your trip with cancellation or date change option.
The organisers reserve the right to modify the program, schedule, teachers and activities at any time without prior notice. We will make reasonable efforts to inform confirmed participants of any significant changes via email.
